Hire an attorney.
You haven’t provided anything close to enough information for anyone to be able to answer here on Answers. An attorney will be able to ask you for the necessary information and will be able to advise you on the best way to proceed.

I think you need to begin by contacting an attorney.
You should have done something as soon as the child’s mother died. Should have gotten child then. You will need to get an attorney, most likely. You will have to sue for custody and custody is in the best interest of the child. The grandmother has had the child for 3 years now. is there anything in your background that would be a erason whsy you might not be fit parent for the child? Any drugs or crime?
Are you just filing now because she has south for child support and you don’t want to pay? That is not a good reason and is cheaper usually to pay than to provide for the child all the expenses.
If this is another state, you will need an attorney and likely have to go there. if the grandmother took the child without getting custody in the state it might have been a case of kidnapping, but that was 3 years ago. Has grandmother filed now for temporary custody or back 3 years ago?. I think maybe you are trrying to get out of the child support as if the grandmother has filed for temporary custody she probably asked for some support money. You have gotten off without paying for this child until now.
Not sure I can wish you good luck but I wish the child good luck in getting a custodial person who really loves and cares for the child and who has the child’s interest in mind and what would be best for the child. If that is you, and it is usually the parents, then show the courts.
You need an attorney to deal with this situation.
